According to Wine Grapes, Pavlos is a synonym for Malvasia Bianca Lunga, a widely distributed neutral Tuscan variety used in blends for both dry wines and Vin Santo. In Stavrakas ampelography however, it is presented as a rare variety from Zakynthos covering 175 hectares creating some confusion.
Whichever the case, Pavlos from Grampsas winery in Zakynthos has a lemon colour with a ripe and oxidative nose full of pear, apple and tropical fruit. There are some herbal undertones as well. With just 12% abv it feels ripe and slightly sweet with soft acidity. I am missing some acidity and freshness here that I feel it would give a better balance and definition. A wine for adventure seekers with an easy to understand structure.
