Negoska is a rarity of the Greek vineyard planted mainly in the prefecture of Kilkis in just a few hectares. There it complements the Goumenissa PDO and Xinomavro grape with a minimum 20%. Chloe Chatzivariti, on the other hand, is a very talented new winemaker producing at her family winery a natural-driven line-up. The Negoska carbonic is vinified with whole bunches, in a carbon-rich environment-a technique followed in Beaujolais delivering a perfumed floral and herbal nose full of strawberries, cherries and wet earth. On the palate, it is enjoyable and with a fruity core, needing 1-2 years to resolve the considerable load of Negoska tannins. I would like the finish more relaxed for the style of the wine—definitely a wine with attitude.
