A very enjoyable Savatiano from upcoming Nikolou winery in Spata, Attica that is also a steal, price-wise. Harvested by hand it matures with the lees for 12 months acquiring a more layered character. The nose is slightly reductive but opens up nicely into yeasty aromas around a core of stone fruit like peach and nectarines. The palate is delicious, ripe but fresh with lovely creaminess on the long finish. Lees contact seems to work well with Savatiano although I believe that less time spent would contribute to a more vibrant character. A very good Savatiano, nonetheless.
