Aivalis ‘4’ Agiorgitiko 2016
(An iconic Greek wine produced from a pre-phylloxera vineyard in Ancient Fliounda, Nemea. Vines are estimated to be 150 years old. Crawling vines producing 1-2 bunches per vine, 15% abv, 620 bottles in total). Recently bottled this needs time in the glass to open up but is an outstanding wine delivering the essence of old vines. Power and grace. Medium ruby coloured, not too deep. Palate is more to the silky side with tannins building up with time. Fruity but also savoury it possesses an impressive balance hiding the warm alcohol. Irresistibly delicious.
