Terms of Use
Last updated: September 22, 2025
These Terms of Use (the “
Terms”) govern your access to and use of
Karakasis.mw and any related content, features, products, or services we offer (collectively, the “
Services”). By accessing or using the Services, creating an account, or purchasing a subscription, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1) Who We Are
Karakasis.mw is a premium wine education platform led by
Yiannis Karakasis MW (Master of Wine), focused primarily on Greek wines and wine education.
“
We,” “
us,” and “
our” refer to Karakasis.mw. “
You” and “
your” refer to the person using the Services.
2) Eligibility
You must be at least
18 years old (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, if higher) to create an account or purchase a subscription. By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.
3) Accounts & Registration
- Free access: Visitors may browse publicly available content without registration.
- Free registration: Registered users can access the free tier, save preferences, and receive updates.
- Premium subscription: Paid members can access premium content, including (without limitation) the complete Greek varieties database, tasting notes and wine scores, terroir reports, expert and educational articles, books/ebooks, and wine school materials.
You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You must promptly notify us of any suspected unauthorized use. We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe it has been compromised or is being used in violation of these Terms.
4) Subscriptions, Billing & Cancellation
- Payment processing: Subscriptions are billed securely via Stripe. You authorize us (and our payment processor) to charge your payment method for recurring fees, taxes, and any applicable charges.
- Auto‑renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle unless you cancel before renewal through your account settings.
- Pricing & changes: We may change prices or introduce new charges with prior notice. Changes take effect at your next renewal; continued use after the change constitutes acceptance.
- Cancellation: You may cancel at any time; access remains until the end of your current paid period. To avoid the next charge, cancel before renewal.
- Refunds: Except where required by law, fees are non‑refundable once charged. If a refund is required by law, it will be processed according to that law and our payment processor’s capabilities.
- EU right of withdrawal (digital services): If you are an EU/EEA consumer, you typically have a 14‑day withdrawal right. By subscribing, you expressly request immediate access to digital content and acknowledge that your withdrawal right is lost once full access begins. If you cancel within 14 days before premium access begins, you may be entitled to a proportionate refund as required by law.
5) Content & Intellectual Property
All materials made available through the Services—including but not limited to text, articles, tasting notes, wine scores, images, graphics, databases (e.g., Greek varieties), ebooks, PDFs, course materials, videos, audio, logos, trademarks, and the site design (collectively, “
Content”)—are owned by us and/or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
A) License to Use
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and any applicable subscription restrictions, we grant you a
limited, personal, non‑exclusive, non‑transferable, revocable license to access and use the Content
for your own personal, non‑commercial use.
B) Free vs. Premium Content
- Free tier: You may view and, where enabled, temporarily cache Free Content for personal use. You may quote brief excerpts for non‑commercial purposes with clear attribution to Karakasis.mw and a conspicuous link to the source page.
- Premium tier: Access is for the named subscriber only. You may not share your login, redistribute Premium Content, or make it available to others (including by copying, posting, emailing, scraping, or mirroring). Where ebooks or PDFs are provided, you may download a personal copy (if enabled) for your own study; re‑distribution is prohibited.
C) Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Copy, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works from the Content except as expressly permitted above.
- Share, sell, rent, sublicense, or transfer your account or access.
- Scrape, harvest, or conduct text‑and‑data mining of the Services or Content, whether by bots, crawlers, scripts, or similar automated means, without our prior written consent.
- Bypass or interfere with access controls, DRM, or other security measures.
- Archive, frame, or mirror any part of the Services.
- Use the Services or Content for any commercial purpose (including internal company redistribution, training data, or database compilation) without a separate written license.
We reserve
all rights not expressly granted.
D) Academic & Press Use
Limited non‑commercial academic citation or press quotation is permitted if: (i) the use is reasonable and proportional; (ii)
accurate attribution to Karakasis.mw and the relevant author is provided; and (iii) the use does not substitute for the Content or undermine our subscription model. For classroom/coursepack or institutional use, please
contact us for licensing.
6) User Content & Feedback
The Services do not provide public posting features. If you submit
feedback, suggestions, or materials to us (e.g., via contact forms or email), you grant us a
worldwide, royalty‑free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, reproduce, modify, and incorporate that feedback into the Services without restriction.
You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant this license and that your submissions do not infringe any third‑party rights.
7) Acceptable Use & Prohibited Conduct
You may not use the Services to:
- Break the law or infringe any third‑party rights;
- Upload or transmit malicious code, malware, or harmful content;
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Services;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or networks;
- Perform load testing, penetration testing, or security scanning without written authorization.
We may monitor use for compliance and may suspend or terminate access for violations.
8) Educational & Opinion Disclaimer
The Content—including tasting notes, wine scores, recommendations, and educational materials—reflects
professional opinions and educational analysis. Wine evaluations are inherently subjective and may change over time. The Content is provided for
educational purposes only and should not be relied upon as a guarantee of quality, availability, price, or suitability for any particular purpose.
We do
not sell alcohol. Please follow local laws and
drink responsibly.
9) Availability; Changes to the Services
We strive to keep the Services available and up to date, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may add, change, or discontinue features, content, or pricing at any time (with notice where required by law). Scheduled or emergency maintenance may temporarily limit access.
10) Privacy
Your use of the Services is also governed by our
Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data, and by our cookie practices. Please review the Privacy Policy for details.
11) Third‑Party Services & Links
The Services may integrate with, or link to, third‑party services such as

Acumbamail (newsletters), as well as analytics and hosting providers. We are not responsible for third‑party services and make no warranties regarding their content or practices. Your use of third‑party services is governed by their terms and policies.
12) Warranties & Disclaimers
THE SERVICES AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED
“AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING
MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON‑INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Services will be error‑free, secure, or available at all times, or that the Content is complete, accurate, or current.
13) Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law,
Karakasis.mw,
Yiannis Karakasis MW, and our affiliates, officers, employees, and agents shall
not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Services.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our
aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the Services shall not exceed the greater of (i) the amounts you paid to us for the Services in the
12 months preceding the claim, or (ii)
€50.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (e.g., for fraud or willful misconduct).
14) Indemnification
You agree to
indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Karakasis.mw and our affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Services.
15) Governing Law; Venue; Consumers’ Rights
These Terms are governed by the laws of
Greece and applicable
European Union law, without regard to conflict‑of‑law rules. Except where local consumer law provides otherwise, disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the competent courts of
Athens, Greece.
If you are an EU consumer, you may be entitled to use the European Commission’s
Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform:
https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obligated to, and do not commit to, use ADR entities unless required by law.
16) Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services (including Premium Content) immediately and without prior notice if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law. Upon termination, your right to use the Services ceases, and you must stop all use of the Content. Sections that by their nature should survive (e.g., intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, governing law) shall survive termination.
You may stop using the Services at any time. Account deletion can be requested per our Privacy Policy.
17) Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be effective upon posting with an updated “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects your subscription, we will provide notice as required by law. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

19) Miscellaneous
- No waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver.
- Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

- Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any purchase terms presented at checkout, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services.
