Akriotou, Assyrtiko 2024, Boeotia, Mainland Greece

13% abv. Produced from 100% Assyrtiko grown organically in the Olympos and Skini Marthi vineyards in Central Greece, at 200–350 metres altitude, on limestone soils. The vines are around 25 years old. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel at 17°C, then matured in tank for three months, with 12 weeks on the lees and regular bâtonnage.

Very mineral in style, with citrus, green apple and a pronounced stony character. Fresh and focused on the palate, with bright acidity, fine texture and a long saline finish. Tasted blind, many people could easily be led towards Santorini, such is the clarity of the mineral profile and the overall tension. An excellent effort and a particularly convincing expression of Assyrtiko from the mainland. VERY GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY. (Yiannis Karakasis MW)
