Wine of the Week: Akriotou The Mountaineer Old Vines 2025
By Yiannis Karakasis MW
Akriotou Mountaineer Old Vines 2025 comes from 50-year-old bush vines on the Slopes of Kithaironas (a PGI that comprises two districts, Attica and Voetia) at approximately 380 metres elevation. It is a Savatiano built on restraint, old vine depth and mountain freshness. Fermentation and ageing take place in stainless steel, with four months on the lees giving the wine texture and subtle depth, while alcohol remains impressively measured at 12%.
