The Assyrtiko Series: Pt 4 Assyrtikos of mainland Greece (short video)
Today I added in my YouTube channel the fourth and final part in my Assyrtiko Series. This is The Assyrtikos of Mainland Greece, wines expressive of a fruity core with less acid and austerity compared to telltale Santorini offering immediate pleasure and usually not requiring bottle ageing. There are however examples of wines when vines are planted in poor rocky soils that deliver a Santorini touch and intense minerality. I may be repeating myself but Santorini may not be alone; Assyrtiko is a variety that will paint beautifully on a canvas with poor soil and stress. Be it on the islands, or in the mainland of Greece.
Enjoy and you can subscribe on my You Tube channel here for more Greek wine content.

Some vintages of Pavlidi Emphasis, Areti from Biblia Chora, Mylonas and Papagiannakos Assyrtikos are some of the examples. Will get back with full coverage on that. Cheers. Yiannis.

Any examples of 'Santorini-like' Asyrtiko from the mainland?
Many thanks,
