Dougos, Limniona L 2018
(From a 0.35 hectare single parcel in the Prosilia, Rapsani vineyard, mainly schist soils, 650 m of altitude, old vines of 30 years of age, dry-farmed, yields of 32 hl/ha, 70% whole bunch increased from 20% last year, 13 days of maceration, matured in old oak of 300 lts for 8 months, 13.2% abv, pH 3.32, TA 6.7 ). 100% upcoming Limniona, a rare indigenous variety which is associated with elegant and silky wines. Indeed this Dougos Limniona hits exactly this spot. Medium ruby coloured. On the nose, it is highly perfumed and aromatically rich offering roses, dark cherries and herbal undertones. Oak is undetectable and the purity of fruit shines through. Very elegant on the palate, pure with a high level of freshness and finely textured chewy tannins on the long finish. Whole bunch seemed to work nicely here. A delectable wine.
