Economou Sitia 1999
This wine comes from an artisanal winery located in the Sitia region on the island of Crete. It is produced in miniscule quantities almost entirely from the local Liatiko grape and is released whenever the producer thinks it is ready. This vintage for example was released after the 2000 and 2006 and in fact seems significantly younger than both. Medium garnet-brick with orange hues. Very fragrant with elegant aromas of blood orange, red cherry, forest floor, and noble animal notes. Medium-bodied but rich with soft tannins, brighter fruit than the 2006, higher concentration and a long finish.
