Great Greek Wines at Söl’ring Hof: A Fine Wine Dialogue in Sylt

A VIP dinner in Germany where Greek wines stood alongside leading German labels in one of the country’s most celebrated gastronomic destinations.

At Great Greek Wines, our mission goes beyond selecting the finest wines of Greece. We aim to place Greek wine in meaningful international gastronomic contexts, opening dialogue with chefs, sommeliers, buyers, and opinion leaders across markets such as Germany.

Following our collaboration in Paris a couple of years ago with the iconic three-Michelin-star Alléno Restaurant, the journey continued further north, this time to the island of Sylt in Germany. Sylt is a stunning destination with breathtaking views and year-round tourism, known not only for its natural beauty but also for its concentration of some of Germany's most notable gastronomic establishments.

The setting was Söl'ring Hof, one of the country's most celebrated restaurants, awarded with two Michelin stars and run by talented Jan-Philipp Berner, where a carefully curated VIP dinner brought together a select group of guests. The concept was simple but powerful. Greek wines from Great Greek Wines were presented alongside some of Germany's most respected labels, creating a discussion of styles, terroirs, and philosophies. The concept was developed by amazing Caro Maurer MW and me.

The menu reflected Jan-Philipp's philosophy and obsession with detail, transitioning from delicate seafood compositions to more structured, layered dishes. Alongside this, the wines were selected to demonstrate both contrast and harmony, and to ignite discussion.
