Ktima Apostolidi, Vidi Anno Lofos 2024, Macedonia

13% abv. Produced from 100% organically and biodynamically grown Vidiano from the Agia Triada vineyard in Macedonia. 70% is vinified in concrete tanks and 30% in barrique, with the wine remaining on its lees until the end of January. Residual sugar 2.8 g/l, total acidity 6.2 g/l. Production: 4,500 bottles.

Lemon in colour, with a subtle oak influence from the start: toast and nuts over ripe apricot, with a floral note that reminded me of magnolia. Creamy on the palate, with mouthwatering acidity that gives the wine freshness and length. There is something quite Burgundian in the combination of fruit, oak and texture. A very individual take on Vidiano, and certainly one of the variety's most exciting expressions. What a lovely wine! (Yiannis Karakasis MW)
