Mantinia 2025: The first reading of a promising vintage

The Mantinians tasting in Athens offered a first reading of the 2025 Moschofileros from Mantinia. Sixteen producers presented wines that showed the region’s aromatic identity, fresh acidity, textural ambition and growing stylistic range.

The recent The Mantinians | Moschofilero Walking To The Top tasting in Athens offered an insightful initial look at the 2025 vintage in Mantinia. The event brought together 16 producers from the region and provided a brief early overview of the new vintage. The value of the tasting lay precisely in its timing. Most wines were still in their early stages, with intense primary fruit on the forefront and several cuvées still settling. Even so, the tasting presented a clear view of the vintage, the producers' choices, and the expanding range within an area still often reduced to one word: aromatic.

Mantinia continues to be one of Greece's most distinctive white wine regions. The plateau is situated high, around 650 to 700 metres, and Moschofilero ripens late. The best wines from the area combine floral aromas, acidity, moderate alcohol, and cool fruit. By 2025, that core identity appears established. It remains to be seen how spring frost will affect the 2026 vintage.
