Desert Island Wines: Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey St Aubin Hommage a Marguerite 2018

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey, or PYCM in the industry's eyes, is a new legendary producer who combines concentration and oak. A rising star who makes thrilling wines in Burgundy is considered the King of St-Aubin. Or is it Chassagne? The story is self-explanatory as PY’s father was born in Chassagne and married a girl from St-Aubin. Pierre-Yves was born in St-Aubin and married a girl from Chassagne. 

Hommage a Marguerite is a cuvée of three 1er Crus: Créots, Combes and Perrières and is a magical wine. It is quite oaky at this point but beautifully supported by pure stone fruit and some matchstick reduction. It is also floral, followed by a firm structure, precise with lip-smacking salinity. Just brilliant. Easy to drink now, better with 3-4 years of age.
