Oenops Xinomavro 2016
New effort from Oenops wines and winemaker Nikos Karatzas using a percentage of whοle bunch. Grapes of Xinomavro are sourced from Trilofos in Naoussa. Alcohol level is very moderate at the level of 12.8%, The must is 80% fermented in a cement tank and 20% in open barrels used only for fermentation meaning they do affect the wine aromatically. Splendidly floral yet also mineral and fruity on the nose. Its entrance on the palate is sweet and evolves to the tannic but non-astringent character of the variety. The fact that it has such a multitude of aromas although the alcohol is so low, should serve as an example to be imitated. Excellent effort.
