Kydonitsa is grown in Laconia, Argolida and the Cyclades where it is expressed by its signature quince aromas where it got its name from. A very old variety probably originating little bit north of Monemvasia in the southern tip of Peloponnese; it was saved by the efforts of some innovative producers. Solid examples show good aging potential. Being an inseparable part of the blend for the famous sweet wines of Monemvasia, the dry versions are the ones showing the grape’s characteristics. Those wines are light, crisp, with refreshing acidity, unripe stone fruits and floral aromas and flavour.
