Tetramythos, Retsina Amphora Naturε 2019

Α game-changer Retsina from high altitude vineyards of dry-farmed Roditis bush-vines in Aigialiea, Peloponnese. Only free-juice is used. Natural vinification in amphoras and minimal resin - about one kilo in a ton - from pines surrounding the vineyards.

Lemon-green coloured. Nose with lemon, orange zest and pine needles. Jasmine perhaps. Delicate scented but yes it smells like a Retsina. Light bodied with 11.5% abv but excellent balance, intensity and persistence. The resin is very much welcomed on the palate bringing extra freshness; winemaker Panagiotis Papagiannopoulos speaks about a different expression of resin according to vintage. (e.g 2019 experienced drought conditions so the resin is more concentrated). A fantastic Retsina.

A note of interest, according to legislation the vintage cannot be mentioned on the label but technically this is 2019.
