At the recent Gastrosophy Fest in Athens, during a panel titled New Winemaking Approaches for Greek Wine, I asked two questions that opened a wider reflection on where Greek wine stands today. To Nikos Karatzas of Oenops Wines: "We see a turn toward fresher, lighter, more terroir-driven wines. Is this a trend or an evolution?" And to Matt Van der Spuy from Charalaboglou Wines: "How do you perceive the new aesthetic in Greek wine, moving from oak and power to finesse and energy?"
