Wine Art, 'Plano', Assyrtiko 2016

A fascinating wine from Drama, Macedonia to taste - blind even better. Could it be mistaken as a Santorini example? Well, perhaps on the nose...it is nutty and smoky with lemon sherbet notes. It is evolved for sure but then palate follows with incredible energy and focus. Fresh, lean with bright acidity on the long finish. It does not have the power of Santorini but ticks all the other boxes. And ages very nicely. A lovely mature Assyrtiko from Wine Art.
